Woman Scream 2022 | Perth | Australia

Where Our Screams Come From
By Christine Della Vedova

Australia can be a hard place to be a woman. We poets come together to speak our truth, build community and inspire others with our strength and pride.

Woman Scream 2022 Perth , under the theme "Origin", an homage to indigenous and ancestral women, was celebrated on March 7 th at the Moon Café. MC Taonga Sendama and were the featured guests along with Lola Kickett, Joni Boyd, Saoirse Nash, SoulReserve, Chaucer Cameron (UK) and Manveen Kohli who shared their lived experiences as women in 2022, in Australia and beyond.

Our 75+ audience members attended live in the venue or via Zoom. Woman Scream Perth, raised just over $1,200 for Starick Services, an organization that supports survivors of domestic and family abuse.
Our screams come from … gender inequality, the marginalization of cultural groups, violence towards women, workplace issues and discrimination towards trans women.

Our calls of triumph come from our shared identity, personal and artistic expression, compassion and sista-hood. Woman Scream. We speak. Are you listening?
