Screaming To Be Heard

Woman Scream 2021 Perth. March 6th at the Moon Café. The event took place around 4pm and lasted for about two hours. It was organised by Christine Della Vedova and Zan Ross. Much gratitude goes to the event’s sponsors: West Australian Poets Inc, Mujeres Poetas Internacional, (MPI) inc. Dom. Rep., Crow Books, Norfolk Hotel, Salon Express Booragoon, Rashida Murphy and Fiona Free.
Women speaking, rhyming, screaming to be heard in our current climate of discrimination, subtle and obvious violence towards women.
With MC Taonga Sendama and feature guests Rashida Murphy, Jaya Penelope, Luka Buchanan, Barbara Stapleton, Manveen Kohli and Fiona Free, our poets gave us lift, rage, triumph and catharsis.
Two surprise guests from the Starick domestic violence refuge braved first-time jitters and read their own work to staggering applause.
Well-attended, the 65+ audience members were a mix of new and familiar faces. Woman Scream Perth raised just over $1,000 for Starick.
