WOMAN SCREAM CANADA 2025: A POWERFUL CALL TO ACTION FOR JUSTICE AND HEALING

Toronto, ON – March 22, 2025 – The second Canadian edition of the globally recognized Woman Scream Festival took place at That Toronto Studio, bringing together activists, artists, and community members in a powerful stand against gender-based violence. Under the theme Ending Child Marriage, Sexual Violence, and Trafficking, with a Special Focus on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), the event fostered education, storytelling, and advocacy, leaving a profound impact on all who attended.

Hosted by Coach Milly and Pharaoh, the gathering provided a culturally safe and empowering space where survivors and allies came together to share their stories and take meaningful action. Through thought-provoking workshops, emotional performances, and inspiring keynote speeches, attendees engaged in discussions on the systemic issues affecting marginalized communities, particularly Indigenous women and girls.

A highlight of the evening was the keynote address by Hanna Guzman, founder of Advice From, who shared her personal journey of overcoming relationship violence. Her message of resilience and the power of community support resonated deeply, reinforcing the importance of storytelling in the healing process.

Workshops designed to provide essential tools for healing and advocacy played a crucial role in the event. Tinnelle Hosten and Sarah Pineda led an insightful session on trauma-informed healing and emotional resilience, while Muriel Françoise Lopez Silva and Katherine Lemus guided a discussion on systemic barriers, grassroots action, and policy advocacy for Indigenous justice.

One of the most emotional moments of the evening was the open mic session, where survivors, poets, and artists took the stage to share their powerful narratives. Featured poet Glowz captivated the audience with deeply personal poetry inspired by the workshops and her own lived experiences, leaving a lasting impact on all present.

In addition to advocacy and storytelling, the event celebrated women entrepreneurs, featuring local vendors such as Juice By Mi, a health-focused juicing brand by Diana Perez; JVX CUSTOMS, a creative business specializing in custom stickers and temporary tattoos by Jasmine; and NQ Collection, a hand-picked jewelry brand by Synthia.

This impactful evening would not have been possible without the dedication of community leaders, including Karen Aguilar, founder of Open for Business Hub, whose commitment to women's empowerment played a key role in the event’s success. Special recognition goes to Maria Alejandra Guardado, Canadian Ambassador and organizer of Woman Scream Canada, whose leadership and passion brought this gathering to life.

As a special tribute, Coach Milly created a Woman Scream/Grito de Mujer anthem, amplifying the movement’s message and further uniting attendees in a collective call for change.

Woman Scream Canada 2025 was more than just an event—it was a movement. It was a call to action, a space for healing, and a powerful demonstration of solidarity in the fight against gender-based violence. With ongoing advocacy and community support, the movement will continue to amplify voices, demand justice, and foster meaningful change.
