WOMAN SCREAM 2025: A POWERFUL VOICE FOR CHANGE THROUGH POETRY

Perth, Australia – March 15, 2025 – WA Poets Inc., in collaboration with Starick Domestic Violence Support Services and the Perth Poetry Club, proudly presented Woman Scream 2025, a compelling poetry event dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring change through the power of words.

Held at Lawson Flats, Perth, this year’s Woman Scream Poetry Event brought together a vibrant lineup of poets and performers, each lending their voice to the global movement advocating for women's rights and gender equality. The event, hosted by Manveen Kaur Kohli and guided by MC Vuma Phiri, showcased powerful performances from Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon, Asha Rajan, Karen Louise, Jo Giles, Mena Tabeshfar, Kula-lee McKeon, and Jamie Lee Everingham.

Affiliated with the international Woman Scream Festival, founded by Jael Uribe, this event aligned with a worldwide artistic movement that uses poetry and the arts to shed light on issues affecting women and to promote empowerment, resilience, and solidarity.

As part of the event’s commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence, donations were encouraged to help fund vital programs and services. Woman Scream 2025 was a free public event, ensuring accessibility for all who wished to participate in this afternoon of poetry, reflection, and activism.

Backed by WA Poets Inc., Starick Domestic Violence Support Services, and the Perth Poetry Club, Woman Scream 2025 reaffirmed poetry’s ability to provoke thought, foster healing, and drive meaningful change.
