Woman Scream 2022 Fort Lauderdale presents: Projection of 2 films by Omilani Alarcon: Latinegras and APART.
Sal Sidner Projects, as part of the Woman Scream Festival 2022 under the theme "Origin", proudly present the films: Latinegras and Apart of the Story by Omilani Alarcon, in honor of Women’s History Month at FLIFF March 15, 2022, Savor Cinema, Fort Lauderdale at 7pm.
Latinegras film is a multi-generational cast of women that confront and embrace the challenges of being Black and Latina in the United States and the Caribbean, ultimately finding what makes them beautiful, resilient, and loving their skin. Latinegras made its worldwide previews in Sevilla and Miami Film Festival 2018.
The film Apart of the Story: Island Dreams of an AfroFilipina is a documentary by award-winning film Director Omilani Alarcon. Is a film with a blend of rhythmic world music, colorful animation where Omilani shares her personal journey to locate her long lost family and to heal Ancestral wounds. We’ll have a pre-film courtyard reception, followed by the film and QandA with Omilani Alarcon, who will also perform songs from her latest CD.
Woman Scream 2022: Origin, is supporting the initiatives of the Action Coalitions for Generation Equality of UN Women for the next years and it's a tribute to our women ancestors and native women, whose cultures persist over time in several countries and who still suffer continuous abuses, in absence of laws that promote the validation of their rights. It is also a tribute to the women whose lineage, courage and strength, since ancient times, have been forerunners of the collective dream, towards a life free from women violence and equal women's rights.
